This blog is updated and edited by freelance Stonehenge Tourist Guides. We can assist with private guided tours of Stonehenge but if you want to join a scheduled coach or small group tours then we highly recommend 'Stonehenge Guided Tours' who have been offering small group guided tours since the early 1990's - and can arrange to get you inside Stonehenge with their famous 'Special Access Tours'

The world famous Stonehenge is situated around 90 miles west from Central London and is well within a comfortable day trip of London.
There is a wide range of tours running from London daily to Stonehenge. Most tours will spend around 45-60 minutes at Stonehenge.
A wonderful photo opportunity!

Because of the travelling time and the relative short stay at Stonehenge there is only one tour that doesn't go onto visit other destinations.

The most popular tour to Stonehenge is the Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath tour that all major operators have as their flagship day tour from London.

Stonehenge is quite remote, one of the reasons why it has survived to this day. Organised day tours from London will normally be more cost effective than visiting Stonehenge independently.

Private Access Tours

For those of you who have not visited this sacred site, we should mention that the complex is roped off. Visitors observe the stones from a distance and are not permitted within the temple complex..........special access tours allow you to be amongst the stones and to actually touch them. "A Unique Experience!"

They have expert local guides who will collect you from London, Salisbury or Bath (Hotel or the railway station) and take you to Stonehenge.

With most tours to Stonehenge you will be part of the mainstream commercialised tourism industry. You'll be at Stonehenge probably 45 minutes, at most an hour before you're whisked off to somewhere else totally unconnected.

Independently it can be frustrating, Stonehenge is remote, facilities frugal and a whole host of interesting sights nearby unexplained

Enthusiastic guides will immerse you in the subject, not bombard you with a monologue of facts. You will be encouraged to walk amongst the Stones, experience natural energy forces and ley lines and really get into the mindset of our ancestors who over 3,000 years ago were creating this astounding environment.

This is an experience you will not forget, and astoundingly you can have a personalised hands on tour with such an enthusiastic local authority for much less than a standard packaged tour.
